WIS/WRDW reports that a SWAT team has responded to a mobile home near the area where two South Carolina Department of Transportation workers were struck and killed Monday morning in a hit-and-run, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Sgt. Bob Beres said the incident happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. just east of Interstate 520 near the Georgia-South Carolina state line.

Beres said a tan vehicle hit three transportation workers and two of them have died.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office has identified victims as Anthony J. Redmond, 54, and Robert Clark, 64. The coroner’s office says they were both pronounced deceased at the scene.

The third worker suffered only minor injuries, the report said.

Beres did not know what the DOT workers were doing at the time.
