BREAKING: Police officer shot and killed in Tennessee, suspect in custody

MARYVILLE, Tennesse- WBIR is reporting a Maryville Police Department officer has died after being shot at an address southwest of Pellissippi Parkway Thursday, according to Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp. A suspect is in custody, Crisp said. Authorities previously had said the man was a Blount County deputy. That was incorrect. Crisp, joined by Blount County Sheriff Jim Berrong, made the announcement from University of Tennessee Medical Center where the officer was taken. The officer’s name was not released. Joel E. Barber asks for donations to add fun to safe play area

LEBANON, Missouri- Shawn Heinrichs, the maintenance supervisor for Joel E. Barber school is making a plea for donations of items to add some fun to a safe play area that was built over the summer.   “I am asking for donations of Tonka toys, sand buckets with shovels for the kids to play and to let their imaginations run wild. American University under attack in Kabul Afghanistan, fighting ongoing

KABUL, Afghanistan- Gunmen have laid siege to the American University in Afghanistan during the third day of the Fall semester. Fighting has been reported inside the institution. Several wounded have been transported to area hospitals as hundreds are reportedly trapped inside the building.
