Arkansas correctional officer dies after jail attack

TEXARKANA, Arkansas- The Miller County Sheriff’s Office says that on Sunday, in the afternoon, two female correction officers were attacked by an inmate within the Miller County Detention Center. Both correction officers were transported to Wadley Hospital for injuries sustained during the attack, they say. Correctional Officer Lisa Mauldin succumbed to her injuries and Correctional Officer Demaris Allen was transported to a Little Rock, Arkansas hospital. The agency says the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division has been called in to investigate the incident. Victim in quadruple fatality crash had been in an injury accident earlier that day

LACLEDE COUNTY, Missouri- The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that one of the four victims who died in the head-on crash on Hwy 5 had been in a single-vehicle crash hours earlier in the day. The report says that Arthur Hayes slid on an ice-covered Hwy E east of Eldridge and struck a tree. The crash happened 5 miles east of Eldridge. Hayes was taken to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. It is not known if he was wearing a seatbelt. A Ford F-150 was towed from the scene. Eldridge woman, child hurt in two vehicle crash Sunday on North 5

LACLEDE, County, Missouri- The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a two-vehicle crash on North 5 sent a woman and a child to the hospital Sunday afternoon. Michelle Michael, 35, from Eldridge was transported to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. Addison Michael, a 10 year-old girl,  was also taken by ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. Fund established for teen injured in crash, parents killed in separate accident

LEBANON, Missouri- A GoFundMe account has been established for Christopher Hahn, a 19 year-old Lebanon High School student whose parents, Lori Hendrickson and Daniel Hahn were both killed December 16th in a head-on crash on North 5. Alexa Daniel, who started the campaign says his car caught on fire and is now totaled. “He is currently in ICU at Columbia. His skull is fractured in 3 places, brain swelling/ bleeding and was put into an induced coma. Alexa says his parents were on their way to see him when their fatal accident occurred that also killed two other people in the vehicle that was struck. “Just moments ago, I was informed that two of the four in this wreck were parents of an LHS student. My heart hurts for this member of LHS. I remain available to help in any way possible, and when details surface I encourage our community to help this young student. I struggled for the right words to say, as it has been a few days filled with bad news. My condolences to this young man.” said Mayor Josh Ray upon hearing of the wreck. 3 year-old boy shot to death in Little Rock, second tragedy in weeks

LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas-  A 3-year-old child has died was fatally shot while riding in a vehicle in Little Rock Saturday, the second similar case in the city in less than month, authorities said.
