Blunt again decries clean water and power rules as job killers at ag forum

“The WOTUS rule and Clean Power Plan are prime examples of Washington bureaucrats run amok under the Obama administration, and these job-killing regulations need to go.” – Senator Roy Blunt WASHINGTON, District of Columbia – This week, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.) discussed the future of agriculture at Missouri State University’s 2017 Agriculture Forum. Other panelists included Missouri Department of Agriculture Director Chris Chinn and Missouri Farm Bureau President Blake Hurst. “With world food demand expected to double in the next 30 to 40 years, it’s critical that we have the right policies in place for Missouri farmers to be able to take advantage of the economic opportunities ahead,” said Blunt. “This forum was a great opportunity to talk about the actions this administration and congressional Republicans are taking to rein in out-of-control regulations and give agriculture industry leaders the tools they need to be successful in a 21st century economy.” During the forum, Blunt applauded a recent Executive Order instructing the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to review and reconsider the Waters of the United States Rule. In addition to giving the EPA and Corps jurisdiction over 99.7 percent of Missouri, the rule would have increased permitting costs by as much as $52 million and environmental mitigation costs by as much as $113 million annually, according to the Small Business Administration. Four dead in crash of stolen truck, three injured and life flight called to the scene

LPD to host dodgeball tournament to benefit Shop-with-a-Cop

LEBANON, Missouri- The Lebanon Police Departments says they are  hosting their First Annual Dodge-Ball Tournament as a fundraiser for the 2017 Shop-with-a-Cop Program. The event will take place on June 24, 2017.  Sign-up sheets and rules are available at the Lebanon Police Department. All sign-up sheets and fees are due by June 1, 2017. MSHP Water Patrol Division Begins Annual Buoy Audit April 15

Buoy permits must be placed by April 1 each year, unless otherwise specified in the permit. JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri- Colonel Sandra K. Karsten, superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Water Patrol Division will be conducting the annual buoy audit beginning April 15, 2017. The division manages thousands of buoy permits which must be maintained by the individual permit holders. The annual audit involves verifying the permit holder still owns the property associated with the permit, ensuring the buoy is placed properly, and confirming the buoy displays the correct markings. Man dead after hitting shoreline at the Lake of the Ozarks, others injured during boat crash

One man dead, others badly injured during high speed bat crash on the Main Channel LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Missouri- A Nebraska man died Thursday night after what was described as high speed crash in a fishing boat on Main Channel waters at the Lake of the Ozarks. Another man was flown by medical helicopter from the scene. Daniel L. Walters, 43, of Battle Creek, Nebraska was declared deceased at the scene by Medical Examiner Dr. Anne Wilson. and  taken to Allee Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton. Darryn Keith, 48, of Pierce, Nebraska was seriously injured and airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia. Andrew Hrabanek, 51, of Battle Creek, Nebraska suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. Dan Young, 51, of Battle Creek, Nebraska incurred moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. The 20-foot Sylvan utility fishing boat going fast  around the 71 Mile Marker and struck the shorline. The Lake of the Ozarks is far below full pool now at 560 feet which presents hazards to navigation. The MSHP responded at 9:15 p.m. and the crash team assisted in the investigation.
