Camdenton rescue crew braves current, frigid waters to save puppy from vehicle

CAMDENTON, Missouri- The following is a press release just issued by Camdenton Fire Rescue: “On January 1, 2019, at 8:04 pm, the Mid-County Fire Protection District was dispatched to a reported car in the water in the Niangua River, off of Tunnel Dam Road. Upon arrival, crews found that all occupants had escaped the car and were accounted for. The occupants did report that they had left their Dalmatian puppy in the car. Steelville man struck and killed while walking on highway

STEELVILLE, Missouri- A New Year’s Eve vehicle versus pedestrian crash has left a Steeville man dead in Crawford County. Phillip Farrar, Jr. 53, was pronounced deceased at the scene and transported by the coroner to Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba Mo. The driver of the car, Thomas Mounce, 74, and a passenger, Marilyn Mounce, 70, were treated for minor injuries at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan. Their  2008 Chevy Impala was extensively damaged according to the report. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Farrar was walking eastbound in the westbound lane of Highway 8 when he was struck.
