LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Missouri- A 37 foot boat sank Monday in the Lake of the Ozarks after a morning fire according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The incident happened on the 12 mile marker of the main channel.

According to the report, the vessel left a cove at the 12 mile marker heading upstream when the captain, Chad D. Stockman, 44, of Lohman, Missouri began to smell smoke. Stockman then inspected the engine compartment where he saw flames coming from the rubber exhaust boot. Occupants of the vessel were unable to put out the fire and fled to another boat. The 2002 Power Quest then burned to the waterline and sank.

The boat will be raised by TowBoat USA
