The USGS says a 5.6 magnitude earthquake occurred northwest of Pawnee Oklahoma today, but people are saying they felt it across the region including far up across the midwest.

 

This was the tied as the strongest earthquake to hit Oklahoma. 5 years ago a similar strength quake struck Praque Oklahoma.

Some reports of minor damage of come in, but so far no causalities have been reported.

FROM THE OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- THE EARTHQUAKE WAS A 5.6 MAGNITUDE LOCATED ROUGHLY 8 MILES NW OF PAWNEE AT A DEPTH OF 4.1 MILES. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS OF DAMAGE BUT SO FAR NO BUILDING FAILURES OR INJURIES.
IT WAS FELT FROM NEW MEXICO THROUGH ARKANSAS FROM IOWA TO SOUTHERN TEXAS. THIS WAS A MAJOR EARTHQUAKE MATCHING THE 5.6 EARTHQUAKE FROM 2011.
