LACLEDE COUNTY, Missouri- The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that seven vehicles were involved in a Sunday afternoon crash on I-44 between Lebanon and Phillipsburg. The patrol says the two vehicles that caused the original crash left the scene.

The collision resulted in 3 out-of-state SUV passengers suffering minor injuries.

Troopers say the crash happened when a vehicle described as a black Honda entered the passing lane in front of a silver Lexus, which also fled. The Lexus then drove into the median to avoid a collision and continued to drive west after impacting the median cables. This caused a chain reaction crash that began when Susan Dodds, 57, of Springfield ran into Yana Rolfsmeyer, 18, from St. Louis. Jenna Pollack, 18, from Chesterfield then hit a truck driven by Jack Kemper, 21, from St. Louis. Kemper traveled off the road striking the median cables.  Elssie Guerrero, 50, from Victoria Texas tried to avoid a crash with the vehicles but struck Kemper’s truck. The three injured parties, including a teen, were occupants in Guerrero’s SUV. They were transported to Mercy Hospital in Lebanon.

The crash closed down the interstate for about an hour. All the involved vehicles were either driven or towed from the scene.

Trooper Southwood initially responded at 3:45 pm and was assisted by other emergency crews.
