KABUL, Afghanistan- Gunmen have laid siege to the American University in Afghanistan during the third day of the Fall semester. Fighting has been reported inside the institution.

Several wounded have been transported to area hospitals as hundreds are reportedly trapped inside the building. A Pulitzer Prize winning AP photographer is said to have been hurt and has been tweeting from inside, Massoud Hossaini said it may be his last tweets.

Hostages has also been reportedly taken.

Two university faculty members were abducted earlier this month on August 10th at gun point by unidentified gunmen on Darulaman Road. The university said they were English teachers. They have not been returned despite efforts.
