LEBANON, Missouri- 7,000 freshly stocked rainbow trout, including lunkers were ready for opening day at Bennett Spring State Park.
Hatchery Manager Ben Havens said there were over 1,000 anglers on the water when the whistle sounded at 6:30.
A gubernatorial presence was absent this morning as Governor Eric Greitens did not make the Missouri trout park stops as Jay Nixon did annually.
Bennett Spring is accessible from Hwy 65 or from I-44. From Hwy 65 take Hwy 64 east to the park entrance, approximately 12 miles. From I-44 travel to Lebanon, and then take Hwy 64 west to the park entrance, approximately 12 miles.
