LAS VEGAS, Nevada- Sheriff Joseph Lombardo says there are 58 confirmed dead and scores more injured after a shooter opened fire on Route 91 Harvest Festival concert goers from the 32nd floor of a casino hotel. Two off-duty police officers were among the deceased. The City of Las Vegas says 406 have been transported to local hospitals and they are asking for donations of blood. 515 have been reported as injured. The sheriff added there will be a long process of body recovery at the concert venue.

This incident has been termed the worst mass shooting in modern US history.

Jason Aldean is believed to have been on stage when the gunfire erupted.

Reports say the subject was using a fully automatic weapon when shots rained down for 4 and half minutes from the Mandalay Bay Casino hotel. The Part of the Las Vegas strip was been shut down and some flights at  were diverted.  The suspect was engaged by tactical teams and apparently took his own life on the 32nd floor and police confirm he is a local resident. He has been identified as 64 year-old Stephen Paddock.

Englewood Cokorado Detective Curtis Leoni is among the over 500 injured during the Mandalay Bay Casino mass shooting. He was attending the country music festival as a guest.

 

Police say a number of rifles, possibly more than 10,  were located in the hotel room.  A female companion was  being sought. Her name is Marilou Danley according to authorities and she has been located. Online photos show her previously gambling at the Mandalay Bay Casino.

“Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still dont know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe. My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night.”
