The Douglas County (CO) Coroner confirms shooting the suspect in today’s slaying of a deputy and the wounding of four other officers is Matthew Riehl DOB 9/09/80 (pictured).
The investigation is still ongoing and being investigated by 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office – Colorado Critical Response Team.

UPDATE: One deputy is reported dead, four officers injured and two civilians are being treated at area hospitals. The suspect is reported down. Deputy Zackari Parrish has been identified as the deceased officer. “A good kid, a smiley kid,” who loved his job, his sheriff said. 

LITTLETON, Colorado-  The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) in Colorado has tweeted that “multiple deputies are down” and a code red alert has been issued amid an “active” situation south of Denver.

The agency released the following information:

“Early this morning at approximately 5:13 AM, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance at the Copper Canyon Apartments, located on County Line Rd, between Colorado Blvd and University Blvd. During the investigation, shots were fired and multiple deputies were injured. At this time we do not have any further information on the status of the deputies involved. We do not have any information on civilian casualties at this time. The scene remains active please avoid the area.

A code red was issued for the affected area. If anyone is located within the affected area please shelter in place, avoid windows and exterior walls.”

The following agencies are currently on alert in regards to Highlands Ranch situation: Douglas County, Parker Police Department, Lone Tree Police Department, Castle Rock Police Department and Colorado State Patrol.

The alert follows earlier reports of an officer down in the area, CBS Denver reports. The number of deputies down or the extent of possible injuries was not immediately known.
