LEBANON, Missouri- A Lebanon church group apparently doesn’t like the fact a downtown restaurant is serving alcoholic beverages on city sidewalks.
Stanley Bunch, the executive director of the Missouri Association of Free Will Baptist Churches, told the Lebanon city council Tuesday night that he believes Madison Street Grill is violating a city ordinance by serving spirits on the walkway.
He said city leadership is turning a deliberate blind eye to municipal code and the statutes are being enforced unequally.
Bunch also expressed concern about the effects it is having on a youth group that meets in the former Bible Book Store.
The Missouri Association of Free Will Baptist Churches is located across the street from the popular dining establishment.
The denomination advocates totally abstaining from alcoholic beverages.
The city attorney is reviewing the issue.
