LEBANON, Missouri- This is a followup on the Lebanon Police Department’s report on an Orlando man that was allegedly confronted and threatened at the Walmart location.

The Springfield News Leader is reporting Steven Scott Pennington of Conway  twice called the man “nigger,” then repeatedly tried to strike him with his SUV. This information was  according to court documents. Pennington had accused the man of stealing, although there seems to be no basis for this claim.

After trying to hit the Orlando truck driver with his SUV, Pennington then exited the vehicle and threatened the victim with a knife.

According to the probable cause statement, Lebanon police were called to the retailer Sunday evening and encountered a group of people who pointed to a black man holding a grocery bag standing by a semi.

He said he was walking through the parking lot when a white man pulled up next to him and asked if he had stolen something from the Walmart, the statement said.

The truck driver didn’t hear, the statement said, and asked him to repeat himself.

That’s when Pebbington allegedly accused him of stealing and used the racial epithet twice, the News Leader reported.

Possible charges are not available online yet.
