LACLEDE COUNTY, Missouri- The following was reported by the Lebanon Rural Fire Protection District about a natural cover fire they were dispatched to today:
6/18/18 11:13hrs Lebanon Rural was dispatched for a natural cover fire in the area of Falcon Rd. Reported 1/2 acre. While responding a large smoke plum was seen from miles away. An additional tone was requested for a pumper tanker, brush truck and manpower in addition to a brush truck from Lebanon Fire Department.
Brush 72 arrived on scene to find approximately 4.5 acres on fire in a wheat field moving rapidly. Personnel began fire attack and with the assistance of the land owner began establishing fire control lines around the fire.
Further loss of the property owners crops was prevented by fire personnel. The fire was contained and extinguished. Fire crews were on scene for approximately 2hrs.
We would like to take this time to remind everyone that it is starting to become very dry! Rain is in the forecast for later this week however, please use caution when burning, operating equipment and discarding any hot or smoldering items.
