ST. JOSEPH, Missouri- KQTV reports a Buchanan County Sheriff’s deputy is facing multiple misconduct and assault charges and will lose his job.

Buchanan County Sheriff Bill Puett confirmed Friday morning that Deputy Stanley D. Rhodes, 47, will be relieved of duty.

Court documents from DeKalb County show Rhodes, is charged with two counts of 1st Degree Sexual Misconduct and one count of 4th Degree Domestic Assault.

In a probable cause statement, an investigator with the Missouri State Technical Assistance Team said Rhode touched a 15-year-old girl inappropriately and exposed himself to her, KQTV says. Investigators say the incidents happened between January and about the end of May.

Puett said he only became aware of the charges last week.

“My decision places no judgement on any kind of guilt or innocence in the cases,” Puett said. “However, we can’t keep anyone employed in such a responsible position with any kind of charges pending.”

Puett said Rhodes has been with the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department since September, 2016, and has worked on patrol and most recently in the county jail.

Rhodes has been on administrative leave and Puett said Rhodes will be terminated next Tuesday, October 31, the report explained.
