MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Missouri- A professional truck driver from Eldon was killed on I-70 early Thursday morning, the Missouri Highway Patrol says.

Darren Liggett, 39, was pronounced deceased  at the scene by Montgomery County Coroner D. M. Colbert. He was taken to Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City.

The crash  occurred as Liggett traveled off the left side of the roadway and overcorrected. He then returned to the roadway and  lost control, sending the rig  off the left side of the roadway. The truck  jackknifed and struck the median barrier cable and posts ejecting him.

He was not wearing a seatbelt in the 2015 Mack Truck according to troopers.

Cpl. R. S. Miller was assisted by Sgt. P. J. Kempke (982) and Sgt. P. W. Meyers  with the Crash Team in the investigation.

This was the 12th fatality incident Troop F has recorded this year.

An GoFundMe account has been set up to help with funeral expenses here.

His wife, Wendy Zeigler Liggett, went to Camdenton High School.
