JEFFERSON CITY, Missouri-  Lieutenant Colonel Sandra K. Karsten, acting superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, announces that 38 people reported to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Law Enforcement Academy on January 2, 2017, to begin the 25-week training course to become a trooper.

The previous Recruit Class is scheduled to graduate on June 23, 2017. As of February 3, 2017, 29 recruits remain in the Academy, including Lebanon resident Evan Macomber.

The average age of the members of the 104th Recruit Class is 23 years. Eight of the recruits have attended some college, three have earned an associate’s degree, two have credits that total more than an associate’s degree, 13 hold bachelor’s degrees, one holds a master’s degree, and one has earned a doctorate. Seven of the recruits have prior military experience; five of the recruits have prior experience in law enforcement.
