CLAYCOMO, Missouri –KMBC is reporting an employee has been shot dead Thursday morning at the Claycomo Ford plant. The incident happened around 4:00 a.m outside the factory in the parking lot.

A witness said she saw the suspect get into a green Jeep Cherokee following the shooting and speed away. The witness also said she saw the shooter fire twice.

The shooting was reported at 4:07 a.m., according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies found the victim dead in the parking lot.

Investigators said the man had just finished his night shift at the plant when he was gunned down.

The sheriff’s office described the shooting as an isolated incident. Operations at the plant continued.

Authorities said they are following several solid leads, but ask anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.

“We hope to have some closure by the end of the day,” said Capt. Will Akin, of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
