VERSAILLES, Missouri- The funeral for local champion angler Guido Hibdon was held Wednesday in Versailles.

Bassmaster says Guido and Dion made history as the only father and son to ever win a Bassmaster Classic. Dion won the title in 1997.

Guido Clinton Hibdon, Jr., age 71, of Stover, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital, Jefferson City, Missouri.

He was born July 10, 1946 in Gravois Mills, Missouri where he lived and attended school. On October 28, 1966, he married Stella Conner. They continued to live in the Lake of the Ozarks area.

Guido was an avid sportsman. He spent his life doing what he loved…hunting and fishing. He was well known in the professional fishing industry for over thirty-five years.

Guido loved spending time with his family and friends, also, you could often find him in his shop making fishing bait.

Survivors include his wife, Stella Hibdon of the home; three children, Dotty Herring and husband Dale of Pell City, Alabama, Chuck Humphrey and wife Marla of Sunrise Beach, Missouri and Dion Hibdon and wife Amy of Versailles, Missouri; fourteen grandchildren, Jenni, Tim, Jr., Erika, Emily, Mathew, Hayley, Nick, Payden, Mitchell, Connar, Lawson, Reagan, Sam and Ben; five great-grandchildren, Summer, Madison, Hunter, Ruth Grace and Piper and many other relatives and friends.

Guido was preceded in death by his parents, Guido, Sr. and Mamie Hibdon; his brothers, Teen, Gail and John Clinton Hibdon and his great-granddaughter, Paisley Hibdon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a fund to establish a scholarship to promote fishing for kids, in care of the family.
