LEBANON, Missouri- A Counsel Status Hearing for Cashawn Ward Williams has been set for Monday July 9th, 2018 according to public court records.

Williams has been charged with Murder 1st Degree { Felony A RSMo: 565.020 } and Armed Criminal Action { Felony Unclassified RSMo: 571.015 } in the death of Gary Don Peterson on June 5th.

U.S. Marshals arrested Williams in east Springfield near Bennett and U.S. 65. Authorities say Williams was hiding inside a residence and a search warrant was executed.

Police allege 39-year-old Cashawn Ward Williams shot and killed 47-year-old Gary Don Peterson in the 500 Block of Sweet Street in Lebanon, Missouri. At approximately 5:02 PM the Lebanon Police Department responded to the above location regarding a verbal altercation between a 39-year-old black male and a 47-year-old white male. While responding to the call, officers were advised that the black male subject shot the white male subject and left the scene.

The Lebanon Police Department issued the following statement:

“On the evening of June 19, 2018 Cashawn Williams was taken into custody for the 1st Degree Murder of Gary Don Peterson without incident in 1400 block of S. Lovers Lane in Springfield, Missouri by the U.S Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force and the Springfield Police SIU.

Information had been received that Williams was inside a residence belonging to a family friend in Springfield, Missouri and after confirming that the information was accurate, a search warrant was obtained for theresidence. Prior to the warrant being served, Williams and two other occupants came out of the residence and Williams was taken into custody without incident.

Williams was transported to Greene County Jail where he was later picked up by the Lebanon Police Department and transported back to Lebanon. Williams is currently incarcerated at the Laclede County Jail.”

Williams has past criminal convictions including domestic assault and trespassing.

A bond has been denied.
