TERRE HAUTE, Indiana- ( via WTHR) – A Terre Haute police officer has died from injuries suffered in a shooting Friday evening, state police report.
WTWO-TV reports the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday in The Garden Quarter neighborhood. Our partners at the Tribune-Star report the call came in as an “officer down,” apparently from a shooting.
The officer was taken to Regional Hospital. Indiana State Police Sgt. Joe Watts tweeted that the officer had died.

Multiple police agencies, including Indiana State Police, responded to the scene of the reported shooting. The suspect was barricaded , but has been now detained.
A Tribune-Star reporter on the scene says the officer was in uniform when he was shot on Linwood Court. The newspaper reports the officers were investigating a homicide and were immediately fired upon as they approached the apartment.
The name of the officer has not been released.
