LEBANON, Missouri- Lebanon Bands congratulated one of their own for being the recipient of prestigious military music award.  Laura Mudge   received the Col. Finley R. Hamilton Outstanding Military Musician Award, they announced.

In addition to her duties with the LHS band, Esther elementary and her private horn studio,  Mudge also serves as a Specialist with the 135th Army band based out of Springfield and is a proud member of the US Military, they said.

“Thank you Ms. Mudge for your service to our country and for your dedication to Lebanon Band students. Congratulations from your band family on this incredible honor!”

The Finley R. Hamilton Outstanding Military Musician Award acknowledges U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard enlisted musicians, and honors the memory of Colonel Finley R. Hamilton, U.S Army (Ret), who succumbed to cancer while serving as President of the National Band Association (NBA). The recipients of this distinguished award exhibit outstanding musical and leadership excellence.

Finley Ray Hamilton, Colonel (Ret.), United States Army, died of cancer on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the age of 61 at his home in Ellicott City, Maryland.

The Finley R. Hamilton Outstanding Military Musician Award is awarded in honor of Colonel Finley R. Hamilton who served 35 years in the Army Music Program retiring from service as the Commander and Conductor of the United States Army Field Band. This award captures Colonel Hamilton’s dedication to the musicians of the armed forces and his tireless championing of outstanding musician leaders in service bands from all branches.
