LEBANON, Missouri- On June 26, Nicholas Odom and his friend spent the day fishing. Before heading home, they stopped at a convenience store and Odom handed his friend $25. He had no idea his $25 would soon turn into $50,000.
“I told him use $4 towards gas and get me seven “Money Mania” Scratchers,” shared the Lebanon resident.
Odom waited until he was home to scratch his tickets. He said he was the only one home except for his dogs when he realized what he had uncovered.
“They were sleeping and so I was trying to be quiet,” he laughed, recalling his initial excitement. “Then I called my fiancée and she drove straight from work to the house real quick.”
Odom used the Missouri Lottery app to scan and check his ticket to show his fiancée, Cheyanne Bailey, the proof of his $50,000 win. He said it could not have come at a better time.
“We are going to pay off our trailer, catch up on some bills and put the rest in savings,” Odom added. “I’m only 28 and she is only 22, so we might go on a vacation or something. I have always wanted to take a cruise.”
Odom purchased his winning ticket at Casey’s General Store, 669 W. Elm, in Lebanon.
“Money Mania” is a $3 Scratchers game that began on Dec. 26, 2017. It has more than $2.2 million in remaining prizes, including another $50,000 top prize.
