LEBANON, Missouri- On Thursday, Lebanon police investigated a case of suspected child abuse and found a bruised one year-old child.

The responding officer was advised by a social worker from the Missouri Department of Social Services that a one-year old girl from Lebanon allegedly had suspicious injuries on her body, according to a caller who reported the situation.

The officer and social worker went to  the 1400 block of East  Elm (Route 66), where the child lives with her father and step-mother.

The family denied to police that abuse had occurred according to the report.

Several bruises were located on the child but authorities were not able to determine the cause.

An investigation will continue according to police.
