Shadels’s Colonial Chapel  announces Macey Dawn Anthony, precious daughter of Gary Glenn (Bub) and Susan Michelle Swigert Anthony, was born on December 5, 2012, in Springfield, Missouri, and was welcomed by the angels at Heaven’s gate on March 11, 2017, at the age of four years.

Macey was born at twenty-eight weeks, and was quickly diagnosed with 22Q 11.2 Duplication Syndrome, a very rare disease that is caused by the deletion of Chromosome 22. Macey was the only known pre-mature baby to survive this rare abnormality. For the next four and a half months of her life, she traveled to three different hospitals for days of testing, examinations, treatment and much more, with a courageous fight for her tiny life.

When returning to Phillipsburg with her loving family, she did not stop fighting. Throughout the next four years, she became the Laclede County Ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network. She made her family very proud of the accomplishments she was able to conquer. Most recently her accomplishments included learning to walk and eat by mouth. Macey proved daily that she was nothing short of a miracle baby.

Macey definitely developed her own personality in her four years. She loved to laugh, and her smile was contagious. She loved spending time with her older sisters, and her favorite toys, pink hippo and Beat Bo Robot.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her parents, Bub and Susan Anthony; three sisters, Hailey, Mikalyn, both of the home and Madison Anthony, of Roby, MO; paternal grandparents, Gary Anthony and Glenda Hayden, both of Lebanon; maternal grandparents, Stan and Teresa Whittaker of Phillipsburg; maternal grandfather, Michael Swigert of Rogersville, MO; aunts, and uncles, Rob and Jean Stephens, Shelly Walters, Kim Anthony, Eric Swigert and his wife Rebecca, Tara Swigert and Kaden Swigert; maternal great-grandmother, Sue Burks of Lebanon, and maternal great-grandmother, Irene Whittaker, also of Lebanon; other relatives and family friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving great-grandparents.

Although she was with us just a short time, the lives she blessed were numerous. We will treasure her memory everyday. Our loss was Heaven’s gain.
