LEBANON, Missouri- In the midst of an apparent municipal power struggle, Mayor Josh Ray asked City Administrator Chris Heard to resign during Monday’s Council session, fulfilling a pledge of sorts he made during the campaign.
Here is the mayor’s complete posted statement:
“Thank you to all who came out tonight. I made a difficult decision to call for the resignation of our city administrator. I also, with the help of the community, finally convinced the governing body that we need to have a conversation about the roles and responsibilities of elected officials vs bureaucrats. Council was very respectful of me, but ultimately we plan to have a meeting in a week or so that will hopefully adjust this ordinance before it’s second and final reading. I hope to have video available to the public in 24 hours or so. Thank you again.”
