NOEL, Missouri- A City of Noel, Missouri firefighter was killed in an accident fighting the California wildfires.

The Mercury News reports that Garrett Angel Paiz, 38, was the 41st victim of the deadly fires — among them the Tubbs, Pocket, Nuns, Oakmont and Atlas fires — which have raged across Napa and Sonoma counties since starting just before 10 p.m. on Oct. 8.

Paiz drove a water tender, a rig designed to bring water to scene when it went down an embankment Monday morning around 6:50 a.m. The rig crashed on the Oakville Grade in Napa County, a steep roadway of about 2 miles west of Highway 29, going down the embankment, turning over and landing on its roof.

His Facebook page says he owned Native Express Trucking. He he graduated from Coachella Valley High School and studied Agriculture Education and Extension at College of the Desert.

The California Highway Patrol investigated the crash, and said Paiz was heading downhill to refill the empy water tender when it happened, the report explains.

Noel is a village in McDonald County, Missouri, south of Neosho.
