GBU-43 Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb  (MOAB) (also known as the Munitions Ordnance Air Blast or colloquially as the Mother Of All Bombs) is a large-yield conventional bomb.

WASHINGTON, District of Columbia- A massive $16 million dollar weapon that has a blast radius of a mile was dropped on ISIS targets in Afghanistan Thursday, the first time bomb has been used in actual operations, US officials defense officials say.

The Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) (also known as the Munitions Ordnance Air Blast or colloquially as the Mother Of All Bombs) is a large-yield conventional bomb. It is touted as the most powerful non-nuclear weapon ever designed.

The bomb was dropped by an MC-130 aircraft  by Air Force Special Operations Command and flew out of its base in Afghanistan.

“The United States takes the fight against ISIS very seriously and in order to defeat the group we must deny them operational space, which we did,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer said later Thursday.

Military specialists are assessing the damage to reported caves and underground bunkers used by ISIS in the  Achin district of the Nangarhar Province.
