LACLEDE COUNTY, Missouri- The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a motorcyclist from Dixon was killed on Highway 5 north of Lebanon on December 30th.

Troopers identified the victim as 33 year-old Cole R. Jones. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Laclede County Assistant Coroner Mike Noyes. Jones was taken to Holman Howe Funeral Home in Lebanon.

An amended patrol reports says the crash resulted from a road rage incident. Troopers allege that Alexander Reed, 22, from Ridgedale Missouri slammed on his brakes which caused  Jones to strike the rear of his vehicle. Jones  then went off the right side of the roadway, throwing him from the Harley Davidson motorcycle. Reed fled the scene of the collision.

Alexander Reed was arrested on January 4th for a drug-related probation violation and no bond was granted. He had been sentenced 10 days shock time in November and credited for time served. Court records also indicate he was sentenced to 5 years supervised probation.

Jones was wearing a helmet during the crash according to the patrol.

Trooper Sloan responded at 1:20 p.m. and was assisted by Trooper Conway.

This was Troop I’s 7th fatality investigation for December.
