LACLEDE COUNTY, Missouri- A 19 year-old male from Niangua was injured in a collision on I-44 early Saturday morning. The incident occurred at 117 mile marker.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Brett Kays was parked in the westbound, right lane in a Dodge 3500 truck when he was hit from behind by another truck driven by Kenneth Spencer, 42, of Waukesha, Wisconsin. Spencer was operating a Ford F350.

Both vehicles traveled off the left side of the highway and struck the median cables. Kays’ truck came to rest in the roadway. He was transported with serious injuries to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

The vehicles had moderate to extensive damage.
