O’FALLON, Missouri- Police in O’Fallon, a St. Louis suburb, say they are fortunate not have suffered a loss of one of their officers after a likely impaired driver slammed into a parked cruiser.
They said the crash occurred on I-70 Friday night as officers were parked on a traffic stop. The force of the collision pushed the O’Fallon patrol car into a St. Louis County cruiser, they said. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says both police vehicles had their emergency light activated in the westbound lane.
“Thankfully neither officer was injured as both were out of their cars. This is another example of the dangers law enforcement faces everyday and why we look for impaired drivers,” the agency said. The 2016 O’Fallon Ford Explorer was totaled in the crash.
28 year-old Dustin Sentman of Wentzville, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and marijuana possession. He has been released according to the patrol report.
