SHERWOOD, Oregon- The Oregon State Police reports that an officer involved shooting involving the Oregon State Police and neighboring agencies occurred late last night just south of Sherwood.

“Please join us in thoughts and prayers for one of our troopers who was in a violent encounter tonight in Washington County. The trooper was shot multiple times and is now receiving medical care for his injuries. Please keep him, his family and all of OSP in your thoughts and prayers,” the agency said in a Facebook post.

KATU says that it all started when police were called to a home in King City around 10 p.m., where police found the body of a woman.

A chase ensued with a possible suspect, who troopers found at 99W and Bell Road.

The trooper and suspect got into some kind of confrontation, and both were shot. The officer has been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, and police say the suspect is dead.
