PHELPS COUNTY, Missouri-  The body of a young woman was found along I-44 early Saturday morning according to the Phelps County Sheriff’s Office and they are looking for help in identifying her.

The press release said they responded to a call of an unresponsive woman on the shoulder of the road at the 171 west bound mile marker. 171 is located between Exit 169 at J Highway and exit 172 at Hog Hollow Rd. and Smith Hollow. The Doolittle Fire Protection District says they were dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival after a 1:26 initial call, officers located a deceased white female, approximately eighteen to twenty years of age, on the shoulder. She was wearing a blue and red colored sun dress and flip-flops. Her  hair was dark, but had been dyed dark blue. She had several tattoos on her right and left shoulder blade area, and one on her right foot and ankle. She also had a large scar on her left inner thigh.

No possible cause of death has been given.
