UPDATE: We apologize for the inaccuracy of the headline regarding the student who was taken into police custody for allegedly bringing a handgun to Lebanon High School. We have updated the article to more accurately reflect the student was arrested after school hours. The district also says the information didn’t come to light until after the school day was over.
LEBANON, Missouri- In a late Tuesday notification to parents, the Lebanon R-III School District said officials were notified by law enforcement that a student had a handgun at Lebanon High School during the day. The alert, sent after 10:00 pm, says they were informed by police that the student is in custody. The age, sex, and grade of the student was not provided in the release. A description of the type of handgun was also not released or if it was loaded.
They told parents that they will continue to partner with law enforcement and there is no immediate threat to students or staff related to this incident.
