LEBANON, Missouri- The Lebanon R-3 School District says that during a special session on Thursday, July 19, the School Board voted to hire Dr. Kati O’Quinn as the next Director of Alternative Programs. O’Quinn will oversee Hillcrest Education Center.

“We are very excited to have Dr. Kati O’Quinn serve as Director of Alternative Programs,” said Lebanon Schools Superintendent Dr. David Schmitz. “She has a rich background in quality instruction and is passionate about helping all students discover and pursue their interests. She will support the great work already concurring at the Hillcrest Education Center while coordinating key support for learners in grade K-12. We are looking forward to her leadership in developing seamless interventions and support throughout our District.”

This will be O’Quinn’s 14th year in the Lebanon School District. For the past four years, she has served as an Instructional Coach at Lebanon Middle School. Prior to that she taught 6th grade English Language Arts, Science and Social Studies for seven years, and she began her career in education as a Special Education Paraprofessional. This past May, O’Quinn earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Southwest Baptist University. She also holds a Masters degree in Special Reading K-12 and a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Drury University.

“I am both excited and extremely thankful for the opportunity to serve the District in this position,” said O’Quinn. “It is a wonderful feeling to know that I am joining a team which has had, and will continue to have, such a positive impact on the students in our community. I am looking forward to the work that is to come, as we prepare all students for their futures.”

O’Quinn is married to Clayton O’Quinn, who works for the Missouri Department of Conservation, and they have a nine-year-old daughter, Emma, who will attend Boswell Elementary this school year. They spend their time together farming, hunting and fishing.
