COLUMBIA Missouri– I.A.F.F. Local 1055 has announced that Retired Division Chief Marc Wright has passed away after a long fight with cancer.

The recurrence of cancer a fourth time spread to his liver, one of his lungs, and lymph nodes after being originally diagnosed 3 years ago.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family! We will share arrangements when they are available. Rest easy brother!” they said in a Facebook statement.

Wright retired in February 2017 from his 25-year career at the Columbia Missouri Fire Department.

He recently completed the dream of visiting New York to spend a day with the elite Rescue 1 after a fundraiser by friend Tommy Goran.

Cancer is the leading cause of death for firefighters, according to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.
