ROLLA, Missouri- A Rolla woman was rescued from an overturned and burning vehicle along Hwy 63 Friday afternoon in Phelps, County.

Pamela Barnum, 53, was airlifted from the scene by Arch medical helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia. She was described to be in serious condition by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Troopers say the crash happened when Barnum traveled off the right side of roadway, striking mailboxes, and a tree. The 2017 Versa then overturned and caught fire.

Barnum was removed from the vehicle by a passing citizen.

Troopers Fair and Rigsby were assisted by the Rolla Rural Fire Department and responded at 3:50 p.m.
