“Biggest wreck I have seen in 34 years 14 Ambulances 29 transported to hospitals.”

BREAKING: Deborah Anderson, 63, of Ballwin, MO has been listed as deceased by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. She was the driver of a vehicle involved in the 138.2 mm, Laclede County crash.

LACLEDE COUNTY, Missouri- Rapidly deteriorating road conditions Sunday afternoon in the area led to a number of crashes on major routes including I-44.

The Conway Volunteer Fire Department reported approximately 100 vehicles involved in a major crash at the 106 mile marker of the interstate. They said rescue units as far away as Dade County responded to the incident that closed the Eastbound lanes of the highway for hours. The non-injured were bused by the Laclede County R-I School District to the Rocking Chair Restaurant to escape the cold.

An unnamed EMT posted the following about the crash:

“Biggest wreck I have seen in 34 years 14 Ambulances 29 transported to hospitals. 44 put on a conway school bus and transported to the Rocking chair to get out of the cold and meet family members. 77 cars, trucks 25 semis involved. Massive effort to care for all injured and trapped.”

The Tri-County Fire Department based in Richland said they assisted other agencies including Hazelgreen with wrecks from the 143 to the 138 mile markers.

Among the injured from the 137.8 mm crash are:

Kevin Baum, 34, from Waynesville listed with moderate injuries.

Griffen Smith, 13, from Rolla listed with moderate injuries.



Facebook user Ashley Rozanne who was involved in a crash posted: “Thank god for well built trucks seat belts and angels. I am so thankful our kids weren’t with us. Life flashed before my eyes. Our truck is the one on top of the semi trucks.”

First Baptist Church in Lebanon opened their warming center at the church again.

Full reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, including an injury accident on North 5, have not been made available as yet. But as of 8 a.m. 10 vehicles were reported totaled in the crash at 186.2 mile marker in Phelps County. Three moderate injuries were listed from the wreck which may have involved a total of 30 cars and trucks. Troopers responded at 3:20 p.m.

Among the injured from the area:

Sheirlarae Hickernell, 44, from St. Robert reported in serious condition.


The patrol says the incidents are still being investigated.
