PHELPS COUNTY, Missouri- The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a semi truck crash on I-44 resulted in minor injury fro the driver Tuesday morning. The accident closed a single lane and slowed traffic. MoDOT told drivers they could expect delays of up to 4 1/2 hours.

The semi operator, Anthony Mason, 25. from Garland Texas was transported to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla.

Troopers say the single-vehicle wreck occurred as Mason traveled off the west side of the roadway and struck a ditch, guardrail and bridge. The 2017 Freightliner came to rest in the westbound passing lane. He originally was travelling in the eastbound lane.

The Doolittle Fire Protection District says the truck  was carrying approximately 5 million aluminum can tops intended to be dropped off at Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis.
