RICHLAND, Missouri- The Laclede County Sheriff’s Office and the Richland Police Department have arrested a 44-year old Laclede County man for 2nd degree burglary. Matthew E. Royer, is being held in the Pulaski County Jail for the burglary of storage sheds in Richland. Laclede County Sheriff’s Office is seeking charges on Royer for burglaries that occurred in Laclede County.
A probable cause statement implicating Royer has been sent to the Laclede County Prosecutor’s Office.
Investigating deputies believe Royer burglarized storage sheds at Mid-America Self Storage located at 21510 N. Highway 5 in December 2016. Deputies are investigating several burglaries and thefts in the Eldridge area that Royer may be involved in.
The arrest of Royer by Richland Police occurred on March 15, 2017. After the arrest Richland Police Officers and Laclede County Deputies recovered stolen property at two locations in Laclede County, and a storage shed in the city of Richland. Officers and deputies recovered stolen tools, toys and other items from the properties that were searched, the sheriff said in a news release.
“The Richland Police Department was a huge help in this case, as was the victim in their burglary case. We believe Royer may be involved other burglaries and thefts in Laclede County,” said Laclede County Sheriff David Millsap. The investigation is continuing.
On March 14, 2017 Laclede County Sheriff David Millsap met with about 60 residence in and around Eldridge to form a neighborhood or community watch program. “Over the last couple of months we have worked several burglaries in the Eldridge area. We had a great turn out by residents around Eldridge wanting to assist, as the eyes and ears of the Sheriff’s Office, in solving crime issues in their area. We are excited about working with them.
