MARSHALL, Missouri- The Missouri State Highway Patrol says they are seeking parole violation suspect Troy Bateman in connection with shots being fired at a trooper Friday night.

Bateman, 35, of Marshall, MO, wanted in questioning in the incident. The patrol says if you observe the suspect, please use extreme caution and do not attempt to make contact with him.

According to the MSHP, a trooper attempted  to pull over a Bateman for a traffic violation on Route EE at 160th Street in Saline County, Missouri.

The suspect failed to  stop, but then slid off the road, jumped from the car and ran from the trooper.

The MSHP said the driver turned and shot at the trooper, and the trooper returned fire. No one was hit, the report said.

Troopers continued to search for the driver Friday night.

On Tuesday, a Moberly police officer shot a suspect after the man lunged with a knife.
