LAREDO, Texas- Laredo ISD Police Lt. David Medina was fatally shot Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at the law enforcement firing range off U.S. 59 according to a report by LMTonline.

EMS crews responded to the shooting at about 3:30 p.m. after a U.S. Border Patrol agent discovered a man who was unconscious and not breathing, according to Laredo police. Paramedics said the man was dead at the scene.

LISD officials, including Superintendent A. Marcus Nelson, arrived at the range following the shooting.

“At this time we are still gathering details and working with local law enforcement agencies,” LISD said in a statement.

No further details were immediately available.
