FRANKLIN COUNTY, Missouri- Three people including a toddler are dead and 4 others are injured after a two-vehicle crash on I-44 near the St. Clair area rest stop.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says a 2004 Saab driven by Robert Batson, 26, of Sullivan, Missouri ran  into  a 2013 Toyota Sienna occupied by seven people.

Batson died at the scene, along with two other people in the Sienna listed as Sushma Settipalli, 32, who was the driver; and Mahidhar Settipalli, 2; both of Plano, Texas. It is not known if Batson was wearing a seat belt.

Five other people were transported to the hospital:

Chinmayee Gullapalli, 23, of Atlanta Georgia suffered moderate injuries.

Tagore Gullapalli, 21, of Plano, Texas, was treated for minor injuries.

Keerthana Settipalli, age unlisted, of Palno, Texas, suffered serious injuries.

Ratnakur Settipalli, 39, of Plano, Texas, suffered serious injuries.

Vaishnavi Yernini, 22, of Houston Texas suffered moderate injuries.

Troopers say the crash happened when Batson ended up travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-44 and struck the left front corner of the Settipalli vehicle. Batson’s car went of the roadway and came to rest in the median cables.

Troopers Bauer and Mulker along with the crash team were called to the scene after the 3:47 am incident. They were assisted in the investigation by the St. Clair Police Department.
