OVERLAND PARK, Kansas- KSHB reports   the house fires are under control but the apartment fire is still burning.

Three firefighters sustained minor injuries while treating the fire and sustained minor injuries.

17 houses were damaged in all.

Kansas City Power and Light said any power outages in the area were “precautionary” and lines will be re-energized once the fire department gives the all-clear. The company did not have an estimate on when that would happen.

Block Real Estate has made lodging arrangements for CityPlace residents and people in nearby homes affected by the fire. There are two options. CityPlace has set up a command center in the lobby of the Dury Inn and Suits at 1096 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park or to the Christ Lutheran Church at 117th and Nieman Road.

Crews are battling a fire at The Royale at CityPlace in Overland Park that officials say is rapidly spreading to nearby homes.

Firefighters were called to the apartment complex at College Boulevard and Nieman Road around 3:30 p.m. Monday. The building is still under construction and officials say no one was living there at the time.

Jason Rhodes, a spokesman with the Overland Park Fire Department, said that construction materials and chemicals likely inside the apartment may have caused the fire to spread more quickly.
