A 3-year-old boy and his twin sister girl drowned after they wandered into a Platte County pond behind their home Monday morning. Platte County Sheriff’s Maj. Erik Holland said the 3-year-old boy was pronounced dead on the scene; a 3-year-old girl was given CPR and taken to the hospital where she died. Video by Jill Toyoshiba.



PLATTE COUNTY, Missouri- Major Eric Holland with the Platte County Sheriff Department tells FOX 4 that their father called 911 at 10:14 a.m. to report that his twins were missing. They were identified as Elijah and Arabelle Wagner.

When the fire department and EMS arrived on the scene they found the twins in the pond behind their house.

The three-year-old Arabelle was pulled out first, and CPR was administered. She was transported to an area hospital but has died from her injuries.

The three-year-old Elijah was pulled out and CPR was also administered, but unfortunately it was not successful.

Details surrounding how the children ended up in the pond are still being investigated.

The Platte County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation. Troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol were on the scene to assist.
